Raptors not extinct

Another new NBA season has started and a lot of questions have been left un-answered. The NBA may be my favourite sport to watch on television. I am a very big Raptors fan and they themselves had one of the biggest question marks entering the season. That question mark was the health of Jermaine O'Neal(JO). Now I know the Raps are only three games into the season but so far JO has seemed healthy and back to all-star form. He is playing in what could possible be the best front court in the eastern conference, if not the whole NBA. Chris Bosh an JO make for a fantastic front court and with Jose Calderon running the point the Raps look as if they may be a contender in the Eastern Conference. Basketball fans know that the teams to beat in the East are; Detroit, who with the recent trade for Allen Iverson have either thrust new life into there team or killed all the chemistry they had and threw the season away, Cleavland, any team with Lebron James and a ever improving Mo Williams playing point guard can contend, Orlando, Dwight Howard is a beast and Rashard Lewis has the ability of being an all-star, and of course the defending NBA champions Boston, who witht he big three of Garnett, Allen, and Pierce along with Rajon Rondo improving every time he steps on the court they look difficult to beat. The Raptors front court can contend with any of the teams and Calderon is very much capable of playing better then any of those previous teams point guards, it seems as though the Raps shouldnt be written off.

I believe the key to success of the Raptors season will be the play of the players people do not tend to talk about. Anthony Parker needs to be the defender he has proven he can be, as well as start to be more aggressive on the offensive end. Jamario Moon needs to be aggressive and drive to the basket and not settle for his jump shot. Jason Kapono needs to just keep shooting the three ball and just work on keeping his man away from the basket. Roko Ucic is still a young kid but at 6'5 is a huge point guard and can handle the ball better then alot of players in the NBA, his jump shot is below average but i believe his basketball IQ and ball handling ability will lead to success for this young kid. As for Andrea Bargnani and Kris Humphries if they can contribute solid minutes well bosh and JO take there breaks then the Raps could be a top three team in the conference and finally break past the first round of the NBA Playoffs.

change what good is it?

well since i hit up the whole sports thing last time it was time to go a little more serious. since the start of school alot of things have changed for me. work has become more stressful school is great but sometimes its just annoying to have to be there before i have to go to work and i do believe my personal life has changed ALOT. you see well in highschool i was in a very close knit group of friends, it was what you could say us against the world. no matter what was going on we were there for each other be it one of us getting hurt by someone or something that happened or if we were just having a bad day it was our close group of friends that stayed together. now this is where the change comes in, i grew up. see my friends were well how do i say this not the most mature people. as i grew and prepared myself for the adventure that is college we seemed to grow apart.

my life without my highschool friends is different. at first i thought it sucked that these people were not going to be around. what was i going to do, who was i going to talk to? well you see college opened the doors to all new things. new people have entered my life and the old, well still there sometimes, are not really there. although it is a very hard thing to grasp im happy this change has started to happen. my key friends are still there from highschool and now there are more people moving in that i truly believe i could talk to. this is the greatest thing about college the new people that will enter your life will make you appreciate the change.

Another one bites the dust.

Well another baseball season has come and gone and their are many eventful things that happened this year. There has been amazing plays, surprising teams, disappointing teams and of course controversy. However the one fact that remains the same. The jays missed the playoffs again.

Well as many people might have already figured out i am a very huge sports fan. my favorite teams are, of course, all from Toronto (unfortunately for me). This baseball season started off with a lot of optimism for the jays(where have i heard that before?) and of course they have once again fallen short of the playoffs. It seems that after every year someone who is working for jays front office seems to say that next year we will be in the playoffs. My response is usually something along the lines of alright maybe this year they will do something to improve the team in some way. This year however my response is more along the lines of...... hahahahahaha.

The Toronto blue jays seem to be run by a bunch of monkeys and not the smart ones you see using tools to get themselves food. J.P. Riccardi was supposed to be this saviour to get the jays back to the playoffs. My reaction to that now after several years of watching him is that my dog and I are more capable of being a general manager. The one thing about J.P. Riccardi is that he is never afraid to make a trade or sign a free agent, he is just afraid of signing or trading for a good player.

After watching the man work for years now i believe that the song title that i choose to be the title of my blog suits the jays season very well. As long as J.P. remains as general manager the seasons will just continue to roll underneath the bus and the jays will remain to be "under achievers."
